After about 10 years of use, the Sweet Track is suffering disrepair. Perhaps the water levels in the wetlands are rising for whatever reason.

What we do know is an increasing number of children are slipping into the water while trying to cross the swamps. Even if a child or parent does not slip into the marsh itself, whatever object is being carried — a child’s toy axe, Mom’s religious symbol, Dad’s hunting equipment, etc.— may be lost with unnecessary tears.

Perhaps the time has come to walk around the ever deepening swamp despite the inconvenience.
